Larut Matang Hawker Centre (拉律马登小贩中心) is probably one of the most popular local eateries in Taiping. This hawker center amasses over 100 hawker stalls under one roof, serving all sorts of hawker dishes across many ethnicities. Also, Larut Matang Hawker Centre divides into two sections which are halal and non-halal sections which is an uncommon phenomenon in Malaysia. Besides that, this hawker center has a very long history in Taiping which some hawker stalls even in business for more than 30 years.

GORENG KOEY TEOW MEE 炒鱼丸粿条
You can only find this special Char Keow Teow in Taiping, don’t miss it! This special Char Keow Teow is very different from the typical fried keow teow in other places. You will notice is that it is not as dry fried kuey teow and they don’t add egg inside the fried kuey teow. This special Char Keow Teow use the thick noodle and this thick noodle is made so chewy and it is fried with the fish balls, meat, fish cakes, and some other ingredients. There would be several different stalls selling this Fishball Char Kuey Teow in the food court, the recommended one is the stall number 78 and 63.
MEE REBUS (吉灵面)
This Mee Rebus (吉灵面) cooked with thick soup filled with the aroma of potatoes. The prawn biscuits are also lit, very crunchy, crispy and it tastes so good! As for spicy-lovers, don’t miss out on their sambal belacan and it is really good to be eaten with the noodle.
WANTAN MEE (云吞面)
The wanton noodle sell in Taiping is different than some of the wanton noodles in other places. Taiping’s wanton noodle is thicker and is mush chewy. Also, the wanton noodle serves with char siew, chicken slice and wanton.

NYONYA KUIH STALL AND FRIED BUNS
Nyonya Kuih is also one of the local foods that you must try in Taiping. This nyonya kuih stall is often full of people. They have different kinds of cakes that some are rarely found. The kuih is in colorful colors, so eyes attractive. This fried bun is one of Taiping’s local representative food. These fried buns are made of glutinous rice and sweet potato, sweet and soft yet hard at the other layer.
These radish cakes are in rectangular shape which is like a shape that marks that it is from Taiping. This is one of the favourite food for breakfast for the locals. There would be chili sauce or sweet sauce to be served together.
"Hor Ga Sai" (虎咬狮)
"Hor Ga Sai” (虎咬狮) is very special and it is only found in Taiping. "Hor Ga Sai” is the Hokkien pronunciation of a drink in Taiping. If you know Hokkien, you would know that the name of this drink is super grand due to “hor: means tiger in Hokkien, "Sai” means lion and "hor ga sai” mean tiger bites lion. This drink is a mixture of milo and coffee under a ration of eight to two.
LEN CHEE KANG (四果汤)
It is a dessert found easily in Taiping, mainly to quench thirst and it is the best choice to have it during hot days!
