TAIPING CLOCK TOWER
THIRTY THREE FIRST IN TAIPING
DESCRIPTION:
The Taiping Clock Tower once, known as The Fort, is an iconic landmark of Taiping. The original timber building was build in 1881 and was rebuilt with bricks in 1891. Between the years 1908 and 1950, the clock tower building was used as the Town Police Station and also served as the fire station. After that, it was left abandoned until recently, when it was converted into the Taiping Visitor Information Center. Besides that, the red telephone booth at the entrance is a standard public feature during the British Empire's old days.
